Hello. I'm Medwyn Williams – eleven times Gold medal winner at the Chelsea Flower Show, Past Chairman of the Royal Horticultural Society Fruit Vegetable and Herb Committee and President of the National Vegetable Society.

RHS Autumn Show London 6th & 7th of October 2015

This was probably the best Autumn show that I have seen at the London Halls for many years, the tables were much fuller than other years and the quality was excellent as well. Probably a little do with the fact that it was a late start to the year and growers still had plenty growing away in their gardens – It was great to meet up with two hard workers from the NVS when I presented them with their Fellowship Certificates, Derek Learwood and Beth Otway. Beth Otway, although incapacitated works hard on her computer organising programmes, events and reports for the Southern Branch and the NVS ‘Simply Vegetables Magazine. Peter Rogers Emsworth with Aviso Cauliflowers. Oere is at University at the moment and is mad keen on growing his veg. Aviso was sown late June and grown on his on his allotment.

John Croot Sweet Candle Best Dish in Show. Would you believe that John wanted three for the collection and three for the class and he only pulled six, unbelievable.

Jeff Parsons from Mansfield with 3 Welsh seedling leeks. Pips were taken during the first week of November and planted in the tunnel mid April from 7 inch deep rose pots.

Graham Wagstaffe with nine Cedrico tomatoes that he has saved his own seed from. Grown in florist buckets on a bed of Link-a-Bord made up with old compost and horse manure and fed regularly with Tomorite.

Geoff Butterworth with Evening Star. Geoff takes some beating with celery having won many times at the highest level. They were sown on the 25th March and 16 plants were grown in a raised bed that’s shaded all round as well as over top when it's hot. He regularly sprays the heart with Calcium Nitrate and then leaves the collars off for a few hours until dry.
